The Deptford Heron – nature and survival in the city.

This is a series inspired by the sight of a heron carving out a living in the wilds of Deptford, south London. Perched low in a tree along the River Ravensbourne the sightings became for me something of symbol of survival in the city, of nature and all of living things trying to find ways to stay alive in a heavily urbanised setting.  What started as a walk to find the heron turned into deeper consideration across the city.
