I’m photographer based in London. Most of what I make is in response to my everyday life, the people I meet, stories I hear, beauty in the everyday and the natural world. I also write as part of my practice. I studied an MA in Geography initially and have an ongoing interest in both natural and human worlds. I developed a specialist interest in my masters thesis on ways we can understand ‘place’. I later studied an MA in Documentary Photography in London.
I spent five years working with the homeless in a frontline role in London. During this time I also combined my interests in the creative and social fields, developing a series of grassroots educational projects under the title ‘The Photographer’s Tent’ – a reference to the early travelling photographers of the 19th Century with their mobile studio tents. I ran these projects with the street homeless in New York City, with marginalised young people in Wales, the Arabic community in Liverpool and in various homeless hostels in the UK.
