I’m a British photographer living in London.
Most of what I make is in response to my everyday life, the people I meet, stories I hear, beauty in the everyday and the natural world.
I studied an MA in geography initially and have an ongoing interest in both natural and human environments. I developed a specialist interest in my masters thesis on ways we can understand ‘place’. I later studied an MA in Documentary Photography in London. Alongside photography I also write.
I spent numerous years working with the homeless in a front line role. During this time I combined my interests in the creative and social welfare fields, developing a series of grassroots based educational projects for hard to reach groups under the title ‘The Photographer’s Tent’ – a reference to the early travelling photographers of the 19th Century with their mobile studio tents. I’ve run these projects with amongst others, the street homeless in New York City, with marginalised young people in Wales, the Arabic community in Liverpool and in various homeless hostels in the UK.
I have been working on a long term photographic project about the Faroe Islands in the North Atlantic for some time.
